To my family, friends and bouquet of readers, This week has been both happy and sad. It is a week where my friend Jean peacefully passed away with many of her family at her side. What a beautfiul, special woman, she appreciated the simple things in life, the flowers, the birds, cooking beautfiul things for her family, a master bake and knitter. Most importantly her love was her family. She could not do enough for them, making sweaters, cookies, cakes and all their favorite things, enjoying their dance recitals and caring for them each and every day. She had been living at the Chinook Hospice for the last three months. The staff and others grew to know her and loved her gentle manner. Visiting grammy has been special the last few weeks. She shared stories and little messages from the heart. Grammy was diagnosed with cancer several months ago and was told there was nothing that could be done for her. Since that time, my litle niece, four years old, shared her ducky blanket with her and it has been at her bedside all along. All of us said goodbye to Grammy today. She has been a very important part of our lives.As Always, REFLECTIONS: The really important "C" in my life has become "Clarity". I am a musician. How much more relevant could it have been? A dear friend looked at me and said, "Especially on your birthday, you are meant to celebrate life, your life, those who you love, and those who have lived through this with you. You need not make any more flamboyant, dramatic statement than that, other than just being and living authentically, sincerely, and genuinely." When all was said and done, my birthday and days to follow were spent in wondrous reflection, laughter, and more laughter, kindness, camaraderie, fun, excitement, appreciation, loving and caring, cake and ice cream...and clarity.
